Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol is best known for his paintings of Campbell’s soup and celebrities like Marilyn Monroe. But before he painted those icons of pop art, Warhol worked as an illustrator for the I. Miller Shoe Company. There, he gained success in painting playful, detailed, and beautiful images of, what else, shoes.

Warhol prolifically painted blue heels with buckles, pink shoes with bows, boots, etc. In fact, he even tried to exhibit the shoe art but was turned down. Imagine that.

You know Warhol would make a Drop-Dead Gorgeous Shoe Collection..

Seeing Double : Dior Anniversary Python Vs. L.A.M.B. "Georgina" Vs. Guess "Karavi" Slingback

Dior Anniversary Python

Really adores Dior Anniversary Python? Well if you want to waste $834 for that, then that’s fine.

But for you, Tight-Budget-Soccer-Mommies, there’s L.A.M.B. “Georgina” that cost around $400.

L.A.M.B. "Georgina"

Actually, i do find the Georgina Version is better than the Dior Version.

But don’t worry. There’s another option for Tighter-Budget-New-Mommies-Who-Still-Saving-For-Their-Kids-Tuition-Fee. Guess “Karavi” Slingback cost only $114.

Aaaah.. Don’t we just love bargaining?

Fashion Tips : Comfortable High Heels

Love the heels but can’t bear the pain? In the latest issue of Marie Claire, Sergio Rossi’s creative director Edmundo Castillo offers shoe advice for walking comfortably in high heels.

1. Change heel heights several times a day. Feet and legs shouldn’t be allowed to mold themselves to any one shoe shape.
2. Shoes are an emotional accessory; hurt your feet, hurt your feelings.
3. Befriend a salesperson who will tell you if a shoe will actually feel as good as it looks.
4. If you feel all the weight in the front of your foot, this heel’s your arch enemy — literally.
5. Your foot needs to sit in a shoe. If you can wedge two fingers between your sole and the shoe — bye-bye!
6. Platforms should be no more than one-and-a-half inches high — or you’re dangling off a cliff.
7. Think Cinderella: A heeled shoe must fit perfectly. Faking it with the wrong size will get ugly. (Hmm, I think Victoria ‘Posh’ Beckham didn’t get this memo. Didn’t she once say If they don’t have my size I just stick toilet paper in…If that’s what it takes to get a nice shoe.’)
8. Don’t shoe shop with swollen feet — e.g., when it’s hot or right after exercise
9. To elongate your legs, ankle straps should sit above the ankle bone.
10. Still wobbling when you walk in your heels? Practice!

You know these tips are pretty useful..

Sneak Peek : McQueen's Spring/Summer 2010 Paris

The show to create the most buzz from Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010 over the past 24 hours came from Alexander McQueen. The British design legend once again brought out the big guns to present the most whimsical and outrageous collection of the week.

Collaborating with Lady Gaga (naturally, I mean look at those shoes), McQueen’s live stream of his show was brought to a sudden end after Gaga fans logged onto SHOWstudio.com to hear the world premiere of her latest single which was played on the catwalk. Note to Gaga: it probably wasn’t wise to Tweet that you were debuting your hot new track just 30 mins prior to show time. Oops!

But back to those incredible shoes…

Models morphed into reptiles and robots wearing intricate digital prints, and stomped down the runway in heavily rounded fetish-style platforms. Adorned with everything from snakeskin to chunks of coloured crystal, they had fashion followers in a Twitter frenzy.

Works of art they might be. But would you wear them?

You know that these shoes are legendary..

*Not long after this collection, McQueen commited suicide. Tragic loss to the fashion community.

Trouble, Trouble : McQ Vs. Madden

Alexander McQueen may have just wow us at Paris Fashion Week, but he isn’t too happy with Steve Madden. The designer has filed a lawsuit against Madden for knocking off his ‘Faithful’ bootie. The complaint cites Madden’s ‘Seryna’ bootie as a “studied imitation” of McQueen’s design which debuted in January 2010.

Lawyers will argue that, “in fact, the only design element of the ‘Faithful Bootie,’ that Madden did not deliberately copy is the zipper pull that contains the ‘Alexander McQueen’ trademark.”

Meanwhile, Madden has since removed the design from his website, which was retailing at $129.95. McQueen’s booties are still available to purchase for $1,155.

You know that Steve Madden always immitate the finest..

Seeing Double : Christian Lacroix Natural Woven Leather Vs. Oh Deer! "PB&J" Cork-styled Shoe

Christian Lacroix Natural Woven Leather

Christian Lacroix Natural Woven Leather is pretty stylish for me, even though the heels is improper (too short). At $719, this shoe is down to it’s last size : 38 US. Perhaps a Lacroix fan could pick it up at the clearance price of 46% off its original price.

But if you don’t fit the size AND the budget, don’t cry your heart out yet. Oh Deer! “PB&J” Cork-Styled Shoe is a pretty decent Knock-off at around $120.

Must Have Item : Jimmy Choo's Hamlet Suede Pumps

"And keep you in the rear of your affection,
Out of the shot and danger of desire,
The chariest maid is prodigal enough
If she unmasks her beauty to the moon."
- William Shakespeare, Hamlet, 1.3

Literature isn’t always uninteresting. Jimmy Choo’s Hamlet Suede Pumps made several people stop screaming, “Boooo-ring..!!” to literary works.

The 4,5 inch heels doesn’t sound so old-fashioned for me. Thanks, Shakespere..!! Now i know how to spent $360.87 without regrets.

Seeing Double : Valentino Pattern Ankle Boots Vs. Pour La Victoire "Eden"

Valentino Pattern Ankle Boots

We know that Valentino's creations are to-die-for and ageless.. But why do we have to spend $944 on Valentino Pattern Ankle Boots if there’s a lower-cost alternative such as Pour La Victoire “Eden” that cost around $166.
Pour La Victoire "Eden"

Well, looks like to-die-for and ageless shoes isn’t so expensive at all..

You know sometimes “Cheap” doesn’t mean “Tasteles”..

Fun Facts About Shoes : Heels for Italian Policewomen

Even though my motto is “If It’s Under 4 Inches, It’s A Flat Shoes”, I still don’t think that high heels are apropriate for Policewomen

So far I’ve always thought that women on the force wear high heels only in Hollywould movies. Right? I mean, how can you chase the bad guys perched atop 3-inch and higher pumps? And why would you do that? Yet, that’s exactly what they did. In the 90s, when I was still a firm believer in (and wearer of) pumps, I remember being intrigued, at the very least, that Scully in X-Files would run around catching alien monsters in impossibly high heels:

Yes, it makes for quite shapely legs, but wasn’t she caught by aliens who performed experiments on her? Huh, huh? Wouldn’t she have had a better chance to escape them had she been wearing sneakers, or at the very least, flats?

Apparently, that wasn’t enough of a cautionary tale for the women on the Italian police force. For some reason, they (who, exactly, I wonder?) thought it was a good idea to update the look of their uniforms with high heels, and thus we get this improbable headline from Spiegel Online: A Sole-Destroying Mistake: Italian Policewomen Get High Heels — In the Wrong Size. Oh, the humanity!

Apparently, the Italian police ordered high heeled-shoes for its 14,750 female police officers, who wanted to give their uniform a younger and sexier look (because, as everybody knows, a police officer who is not sexy is a pathetic excuse for a law-enforcer). The government commissioned the shoes cheaply in Romania. The shoes arrived–they were elegant, for sure–but the sizes were way too small. The result? A lot of pain and unusuable shoes left over, whose cost will be swallowed by the ministry.

Me? I’m almost surprised they didn’t force the women to wear them anyway–after all, it’s already painful to wear high heels on the job, all the time (on cobblestones, no less, people!)–what’s a little more pain added to that?

The Manolo would say Ayyyyyy! We should all say AYYYYYY!

You know High Heels isn’t always apropriate at any circumstances..

Kisses,
