Trouble, Trouble : Dina Lohan's Shoe Line. Ew..

I don’t even know in which categories should i put this news.

It looks like another Lohan is jumping on the fashion design bandwagon - lucky us!

It has been revealed that Dina Lohan, mother of Lindsay, is breaking into the shoe design business.

But wait… it gets better! She plans to call her new line, “Shoe-Han” (*cringe*).

The announcement comes just days after Lindsay made her Paris catwalk debut by unveiling a collection for Ungaro (she was artistic advisor, whatever that means!) Dina’s shoe range will be sold via LoveMyShoes.com and she promised that everything will be under $100.00, and the outrageous celeb-mum will also be the brand’s spokesperson appearing in TV and radio commercials. I can’t wait to hear what you think about this one.

She plans to offer sexy styles for pretty young things and more sophisticated shoes for grown-ups and moms like herself. Dina confessed she’s “paranoid” about what she wears, because the press often slams her for dressing too young. “Lindsay sent me pink Ungaro heels,” Dina said. “‘Mommy, you look so hot in them’ — we bickered about it. I can’t wear those. I’m old.”

Dina’s new shoe line is set to debut in Spring 2010.

You know that Shoe-han will haunt our nights..

Fun Facts About Shoes : Cinderella's Squirrel Fur (?) Slipper

Glass Slipper
Louboutin's Squirrel Fur Slipper Version?

Cinderella’s slippers were NOT made of glass. According to the authors of a wonderful little book called The Book of General Ignorance: Everything you think you know is wrong , Cinderella’s slippers weren’t made of Glass. Oh no, They were made of squirrel fur.

“Charles Perrault, who wrote the familiar version of the story in the seventeenth century, misheard the word vair (squirrel fur) in the medieval tale he borrowed and updated for the similar-sounding verre (glass).

Cinderella is an ancient and universal story. The Chinese version dates back to the ninth century and there are more than 340 other version before Perrault’s. None of the early versions mentions glass slippers. In the original Chinese story “Yeh-Shen,” they’re made of gold thread with solid gold soles. In the Scottish version “Rashie-Coat” they’re made of rushes. In the medieval French tale, adapted by Perrault, her shoes are described as pantoufles de vair–slippers of squirrel’s fur.

One sources says the vair/verre error occurred before Perrault and he merely repeated it. Others think glass slippers were Perrault’s own idea and that he intended them all along.

[…]

As well as polishing up “Cinderella”–adding the mice, the pumpkin, and the fairy godmother–Perrault reduced their peasant bloodthirstiness. In the medieval original, the ugly sisters cut off their toes and bunions to try on the slipper, and after the Prince marries Cinders, the King takes revenge on them and the wicked stepmother by forcing them to dance themselves to death wearing red-hot iron boots. Much of this bloodthirstiness was later reinstated by the Brothers Grimm.

In Three Contributions to the Theory of Sex, Freud claimed slippers were a symbol for the female genitals.”

Aren’t you Glad that Disney didn’t get their hands on the peasant version?

You know that Fairy Tales are not as beautiful as they appears..

This Charlotte Olympia’s Dolly Leather Platform Pumps can seriously roar its way to my fave list. Although it cost around $500 (which is pretty expenso for a simple animal printed Pumps), the 1 Inch "Island Platform" really caught my attention.

Fun Facts About Shoes : Wedding Shoes

I found a few fun facts about wedding shoes.
  • Shoes tied to the back of the newlyweds’ car has evolved from the Tudor custom where guests would throw shoes at the newlywed couple. It was considered lucky if they or their carriage were hit. The shoes were later replaced with tin cans because guests were tired of going home with only one shoe and because the noise from the tins was believed to ward off evil.
  • The custom of the bride tossing her bouquet over the shoulder was originally performed by throwing one of her shoes over her shoulder. I’m sure modern day wedding guests are delighted that this tradition is no longer upheld. Can you imagine the odors?
  • In Hungary, the groom drinks a toast to his bride out of her wedding slipper. So this is why you need new shoes! You wouldn’t want your fiancee to drink out of dirty old shoes.
  • In ancient Egypt, the bride’s father gave the groom her sandal as a symbolic gesture, indicating she now belonged to him and to symbolize the passing of responsibility for the daughter to her new husband.
  • In ancient China, brides wore lotus shoes which were decorated with instructions on how to consummate the marriage.
  • In Greek weddings, the names of all the bridesmaids are written on the sole of the shoe.  The names of those rubbed off at the end of the night would eventually get married.  Those whose names were left were, well screwed.
You know fun facts are, well..., fun..

Fashion Tips : Flat Shoes

Even though i don’t like (almost hate) flat shoes, some of you, people, actually adore them. So i think these tips might be helpful.

How To Make Sure Your Flat Shoes Look Fashionable
Many women have either vowed (subconsciously or otherwise) to only wear flats, while other women have banished them from their wardrobe entirely. While this decision often has to do with the height of the wearer, neither extreme is necessary - no matter how short or tall you are.
Flats should have a place in every woman’s wardrobe. If worn correctly, flat shoes can be as stylish and fun as their high-heeled counterparts, and they have the advantage of comfort that high heels will never beat.
So, whether you’re short, tall, or somewhere in between, give your feet a break every once in a while, and slip into a pair of comfortable flats. Use the following guidelines to be sure that your fashion-rating is high even when your heels aren’t.

Look for Flats with Style
Since flats usually aren’t as dynamic as heels, look for flats in fashionable colors, materials and textures to help jazz up your look without having to resort to higher heels.

Dress Up Simple Flats for an Ultra-Feminine Look
To make up for the simple styling of many flats, consider prettying up your outfit with ultra-feminine wrap tops, flared sleeves and layered shirts to help convey a head to toe ballerina look.

Flats and Skirts
Having no heel on your shoes can make your legs appear shorter. If wearing flats with skirts, shoot for a hemline that is above the knee, to regain a look of length to your leg. Wearing flats with longer skirts can give you a dowdy appearance.

The Right Pants for The Shoes
Capri pants and flats are a match made in heaven, but if you’re wearing long pants, make sure they aren’t too long. Having the hem of your jeans or slacks drag the floor, not only looks sloppy, it’s also a great way to ruin a pair of pants. Avoid wearing really tight pants or jeans with flats, as this can sometimes look frumpy. Instead, consider pairing pants with a flare to the leg with pointed-toe flats for an ultra-stylish look.

You know that flat shoes are only for old people above 60..

Seeing Double : Prada "Lovelies" Vs. Pelle Moda "Holly" Vs. Newport News Patent Pumps

Prada "Lovelies"

Prada "Lovelies" is a liiiiiittle bit tacky for me. Especially it cost around $600. But if you really into that, there are a few alternate route that didn’t cost that much.

The first one is Pelle Moda “Holly” that cost $101.40. The design is a bit different from Prada. But you can get the same flower petal signature heels.
Pelle Moda "Holly" Strappy Sandals

If these babies are still too pricy for the budget-conscious, there is yet another lower-end alternative via the Newport News website. Newport News Patent Pumps that cost only $39. This one is not nearly as successful as either the original or the Pelle Moda copy. But, it will fit in most budgets.
Newport News Patent Pumps

I actually wouldn’t mind the purple color variation, but I am horribly distracted by the excessive plastic-entombed glitter of this molded heel. These would have been much better off had somebody (anybody!) resisted the urge to pick up the glitter stick.

You know there are a lot of options if your budget is a bit tight..

Fashion History : Louboutin's Red Soles

Christian Louboutin

Ever wonder how Christian Louboutin’s signature red soles came about?

“I did not really choose the red sole. Its more like the red sole came to me and had to stay with me. It started as a happy accident, which I kept. I was very inspired by pop art so all my drawings were really full of colors. So the first prototype arrives. Its very similar to my designs so I was very happy. But something was missing. Thank God I had this girl with me who was painting her nails. Grabbed her nailpolish - thank you to Chanel for that!  I grabbed the nailpolish and I painted the sole.”

You know that we love to paint our city Red..

Must Have Item : Jimmy Choo's Verity Multistrap Sandals

Spidery long legs are every women's desire.

Jimmy Choo Verity Multistrap Sandals would be able to create that Illution with $604.35, which is a lot cheaper than having a knee job. Plus the 4,5 Inch heels with 0,5 Inch Platform really helps lengthened your legs.

But promise me, do not to get tangled and caught up between that spider’s web.

Alexander McQueen risked it all with his racy, Bi-color Leather Pumps. The 4,5 Inch heels combined with concealed 1 Inch Platform really made the look more A-Mah-Zing.

Anniversary of McQueen's Death

In Honor of McQueen's death anniversary, i would like to dedicate my blog today for him. I'll post everything about Alexander McQueen, one of the most influencial person in modern fashion history. His work is legendary and it'll always be.

He created a collection with Lady GaGa back in Spring/Summer 2010 Paris Fashion Week. She even released a sneak preview of her latest single, "Bad Romance".

McQueen’s collection, entitled “20,000 Leagues Under The Sea” depicted the story of women’s evolution using an aqua-Darwinian point of view. Vivid prints inspired by fish, snakes, squid, jellyfish, crabs, and other aquatic creatures ruled the collection. The models walked on the runway looking like fusions of various aquatic figures; think of woman-jellyfish, battle mermaids, she-squids, among others.

Here's some example of the shoes he created for that collection.

Lady GaGa, who is a close friend to McQueen and also the muse for this collection, used almost every pieces of this collection for her "Bad Romance" video clip.

You know how much we'll miss him..

Kisses,
